NEVER JUSTIFIABLE

Bombing cities and civilians is never a justifiable act of war! Each citizen is entitled to freedom and should not be unfairly attacked. Citizens have the oportunity to take part in war affairs by enlisting in the army or other war related forces. Those who chose not to participate in the war should not be bombed or attacked. Not only is the bombing of cities and citizen cruel and unjust; it is one step too far!

Prohibition In Springfield

         PROHIBITION PART 1
The producers of the Simpsons were successful in portraying the Prohbition during the 1920s in the episode "Prohibition In Springfield". Despite the comical twist in the episode, the ideas brought about by the Prohibition were, for the most part, accurate. Personaly, I enjoyed the episode, finding it both humerous and educational. The episode portrayed the speakeasies accurately. The fact that police also drank during the Prohibition was also accurate; police enjoy drinking just as much as the average American. The bootlegging was depicted well throughout the episode. Lastly, the mobs displayed the anger felt by the Americans reguarding alcohol. Overall, the episode "Prohibition in Springfield" sucessfully portrays the Prohibition in the 1920s.

PROHIBITION PART 2
I would create an episode involving the Flappers because they were an important topic during the 1920s. In my episode I would include the Flappers parading through town trying to make a statement. Each Flapper would be dressed in an etire that is not normally suitable for a woman to wear in the 1920s. The parade would show that women wanted their rights and were free to do what they pleased. Women with short hair, short skirts, and scarfs, wearing a lot of makeup, would show the town they are ready for changes. Incorporating humerous comments, the episode would remain a comedy. After the parade ends the Flappers would go to a speakeasy and drink alcohol with all of the men. Some men would make remarks to their "unlady-like" behaivor. Women began drinking and smoking in public during the 1920s. An episode to demonstrate the lives of the Flappers would lead to an interestig historic comdedy.

US CIVIL LIBERTIES

America gained it's freedom over much hardwork, dedication and suffering; however, to many, these hardships were all worth the cost. I do not believe civil liberties should be limited during time of war simply because in America, the civil liberties the Americans have are very important. During a time of war I believe Americans should help out the army as much as possible, without giving up their rights. Some ways Americans aid the army today is by sending clothing, food, and supplies over to the troops. Many schools make great efforts to help our stronghearted soldiers. Assemblies are also held to educate today's youth of the struggles our soldiers fight everyday. Though I do not agree that Americans should have limited rights, I do believe everyone should help support our troops in as many ways possible!

Progressive Reform In The US

The unemployment rate in the United States has increased dramatically over the past few years. In 2010, the increase of the unemployment rate has affected many people. Costs have increased in many areas; however, it is difficult for many unemployed people to keep up with the increase in taxes, gasoline, dues, college fees, insurance and more. For example, at Norton High School in order to be in an honors society a fifty dollar fee must be payed. Not only do students work hard to attain the grades to be a part of an honors society but they also must pay. Students with outstanding grades are help back due to a lack of money. The unemployment rate is higher than ever and needs to be decreased as soon as possible. The cost of college has also been raised. Everyone stresses the need for students to attend college; however, in today's economy some people simply cannot afford college. Unemployment leads to stuggles for everyone. To increase the employment rate, new buildings should be built requring the need for employees. Prices should be lowered to allow those struggling to get by until the unemployment rate is increased!

Unexpected Spain Slaughter

The USS Maine explosion took place yesterday morning, February 15. The USS Maine was destroyed with a massive explosion, caused by Spain. Spain asks for war with the U.S. by killing 700 sailors! Families torn apart, lives destroyed, people left defensless from Spain. How long will our government wait to take action before another tradgedy occurs? The US needs to stand against Spain!
