Nixon's Presidency

      NIXON
Nixon had a very negative impact on the United States during his presidency. His Checkers speech made mandy frown upon him. The Checkers speech forced a distrustful opinion towards Nixon upon the citizens. Nixon schemed many plots againstt those whom he did not like, he even had an enemies list. The enemie list made Nixon appear to be a nasty person and president. Nixon's watergate scandal also made people skeptical about him and found it very difficullt to trust him. When Nixon resigns from the presidency people lose hope for America. Many felt that they were not pretected. How can a country posibly be protected in the hands of a dishonest man?

homework 4/7 THE ERA

Q: What do you think about the ERA and why?
A:          I think that the ERA was a positive stride for all women. Fighting for equality is an ongoing theme in American History. As African American's fought for their freedoms to be equal to white men, women also fought for their equality to men. Women and men are different, blacks and whites are different, but where would the world be if everyone was the same? No culture, no originality, nothing to make one stand out from the rest. Differences don't make people any less important than another. Everyone should be treated equally in all areas, regaurdless of their background or ability. I believe that the ERA demonstrated the determination women have towards the idea of equality. Thirty-five of thirty-eight states voted to pass the laws for equality of women and men. Only three more states needed to agree on the issue to pass the law. These numbers show that many people realized the need for equality. The ERA strongly influenced the world and opened the eyes of women everywhere.

Q: Should it be brough back and tried again?
A:       Yes, the main focuses of the ERA should be brought back today! Our constitution is incomplete, it does not state that women and men are equal. Women are unfairly paid less than men. Women are often stereotyped to be weak and incapable. However, I believe if one has a will, they can accomplish anything. A lazy man who is unwilling to work is less capable than a willing women who is prepared for any task. However, many believe men are superior to women in any case. The stereotypical views of women are often unfairly misjudged. Creating laws that state that women and men are equal will open new doors for all women. It will strengthen the hopes and lives of women around the world. Bringing back the ideas of the ERA would change the lives of many!

Jackie Robinson

     A True Leader
Jackie Robinson deserves to be recognized as one of the greatest civil rights leaders in American History. Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play Major League Baseball in 1947. Taking a stand towards equality for all, Jackie Robinson stands at home plate with dignity. Young Jackie Robinson dealt with racial issues in a peaceful manner by not reacting violently when provoked by a crowd.  Reguardless of the racial slurs and ongoing protests against his cause, Jackie Robinson never gave up, not once.He was not only proud of himself but he was proud of his race and felt that no shame should be felt due to the color of one's skin. Though many remained bitter towards the idea of equality, he enstilled hope for African Americans and other minorities across the nation. Jackie Robinson is a repectable hero, one of America's greatest civil rights leaders in American History.

Yooks VS Zooks

Yooks v.s. Zooks
On the far side of the wall the Zooks unite
The Zooks and Yooks are ready to fight
Bitsy big boy boomeros at hand
The Zooks and Yooks take a stand
The Yooks chant "butter on top of bread"
But those Zooks stood and shook their heads
The Zooks call out "Butter on bottom is the way to go"
The Yooks call out "no, no, no"
Anger is stirring, there are whispers about
A plan is occuring, there is no way out
"But wait", one young Yook says aloud
"Can't we have peace?", he says to the crowd
"Bread and butter, it all tastes the same", he cried
The Zooks and Yooks stand side by side
Realizing their differences can be worked out
"Young Yook is a hero", everyone shouts!

NEVER JUSTIFIABLE

Bombing cities and civilians is never a justifiable act of war! Each citizen is entitled to freedom and should not be unfairly attacked. Citizens have the oportunity to take part in war affairs by enlisting in the army or other war related forces. Those who chose not to participate in the war should not be bombed or attacked. Not only is the bombing of cities and citizen cruel and unjust; it is one step too far!
